75K miles 2011 PPV ?
75K miles 2011 PPV ?
just bought a relatively clean 2011 caprice ppv with 75200 miles, car runs great, I put it through some strenuous paces getting on it. Shifts good, accelerates ok but I did notice from a dead stop when I floor it car has a slight lag to it then kicks in, brakes good, handles well. Wont spin the rear tires even with the traction control off, I am concerned however noticing very light smoke/haze from the tailpipes when car is idling, also smells like antifreeze inside of car, checked all fluids everything at proper level's, oil not burned in appearance. What could be going on with the slight haze of exhaust smoke, also is 75K considered alot of miles for this type car, do these v-8's hold up well. I know the car was well maintained by some agency in N.Y. state still has a "next P.M. @ 77K miles" sticker on windshield.
Thanks for any help and advice.

motor is your typical LS strong as a ox , the only bad is the DOD lifters , which are known for going bad

how would the DOD lifters present if they are symptomatic of going bad. Thanks.

Usually a ticking in the engine will be present with DOD failure. . Smoke out the exhaust usually indicates a ring problem.kammrk11 wrote:how would the DOD lifters present if they are symptomatic of going bad. Thanks.

Smoke could also indicate the need for a catch can, and/or the fact that you had been driving it kind of hard, you may have moved some pooled oil around, and got it down into the combustion chambers.smwalker wrote:Usually a ticking in the engine will be present with DOD failure. . Catch can, may have to invest in that, definitely going with the rotofab CAI, 3" varex catbacks, and have it tuned with the HP tuner. Does this set up sound good for unlocking some horsepower and improving performance. Thanks so much for all you guys advice & direction.

I've experienced a similar issue. I was driving home the other day and a random puff of white smoke would emanate from the rear.
Car is an 11 9C3, never in service as a Govt/Police vehicle, previous owner bought it with 1,600 miles and I got it with 74,000, last week.
Any info/ideas would be appreciated.
