VIN breakpoints & production figures/dates

Post by elc32955 »

Does anyone have information on the starting and ending VIN sequence numbers for our cars by year? It'd be nice to be able to see where we were in the production chain (for instance early, late production, etc...). On the silver plate in the engine compartment it does give a build date (month and year), if we correlate VINs to build dates it might be of some help. For instance, there were 880 cars sold in 2011 according to public sales figures. I'd sure like to know where I sit in that 880.... also I'm wondering if there's any information on how many prototypes were produced, not sold.

Your dealer service department can run your VIN and get the build options, which include the build date.

Already have that for my car. What I'm after is aggregate records.

If I remember, I'll go read my tag and post the last few digits of my VIN sequence number. I'm certainly not going to post my whole VIN here. I know my build date is February 2011. I have that memorized.

Eric, the way to go at this is to make contact with CCC - Chevy Customer Care - to explain what it is you're wanting to do. They stay pretty well engaged with the SS owners on the http://www.ssforums.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; site, and there's quite a bit of this sort of data that's been made available.

Already tried that first. Dud. Got referred to Fleet, their support people didn't want to talk without a fleet account.
