Tap into high beam feed

Post by iefbr14 »

Can someone help me find the correct wire to tap into for high beams on?

I looked at the harness going into the headlight assembly; all those wires seem too small for a high-consumption appliance like a high-beam.

Going as close as possible to the endpoint, looking at the high-beam socket, I see the same (too small in my opinion) small wires that go straight to the halogen lamp pins. Evidence says it has to be those wires, but I am still in disbelief.

For the positive 12 volts supply:
Left headlamp is the Dark Green with White wire
Right Headlamp is the Light Green with Black wire

Pin 8 on both connectors if you can read the numbers on the back of it.

Wire size listed as .5 so about 24 AWG, yea thats small. BUt I am sure just enough for the factory bulb.

Not trying to power anything, just sensing if the high-beam is on or off.

That larger gauge white wire in the same harness going into the headlight assembly, is that the 12v feed?

Thanks for your help...

NOt showing any solid white wires going into the headlamp on the diagrams. The largest wires you should see are black and they are the ground for everything in there.

I know this an old post, where is the connector that is being referred to here?

I’m seeing connectors passenger side just forward of the fuse panel. There’s connectors there that have been cut from and I recall seeing wires that I think are the colors mentioned here.

Thanks
