Hi,

Check in our files section for the police technical manual for the year Caprice you have. The electrical wiring for the police options is shown in detail, so you can locate the wires that are called out and connect them to whatever kind of switch you want in your car. Best of all this reference material is free - no GM subscription required!

Thanks

OK, here's what the 2014 manual says about where the wiring is you are looking for.....
Option 6J7 provides a headlamps high beam flashing module, rear lamps flashing via
the Body Control Module (BCM) and a control wire for customer-furnished switching
to turn the module on and off. The flasher control wire is terminated in the 16-way
connector on the upfitter harness at the right front corner of the equipment
mounting platform.

Activation of the headlamps flashing and rear lamps can be separated by opening the
blue/green BCM circuit at the flasher module connector, P181-F, and applying a
customer-switched ground to the blue/green wire in the upfitter harness 16-cavity
connector (P277-16) at the right side of the equipment mounting platform. Power to
the green wire must be OFF to flash rear lamps only.
Warning: BCM will be damaged if 12V power is connected to the dark-blue/
yellow wire.
The wire is under the center console between the driver & passenger seat (they call it the "equipment mounting platform"). Remove the center console equipment plates. You'll see a 16-wire connector under there, that is the bundle you are looking for. This bundle is called the upfitter harness. Now depending on how the car was used during police service there's always a chance that the connector was made away with. So, in this case look for the wire bundle and trace it out to where it terminates. The factory location is on the right side of the center console close to the dashboard.

This thread shows a picture of the wiring with connectors attached. viewtopic.php?t=1796
This thread shows a picture of the wiring with the connectors lopped off. https://www.newcaprice.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2696

Hope this helps.

On the 11-13’s, there is a small green/red tracer wire that is in the bundle of wires at the passenger kick panel that is used for upfitting. If you put 12 volts to the wire, that should energize the flasher module. Don’t know if it is the same as the 14-17’s, as I don’t have one in my fleet.

Between the radiator support and the interior kick panel there is possibly a four wire, two-piece harness with a flat connector. It is usually found lying on top of the right inner wheel well housing. It has light blue, light green, light gray and light brown wires. This was intended for a siren and grill light flashers. Maybe the upfitter used that? Those four wires were blunt cut in the same location by the kick panel and below the glove box. Google the manufacturer of the flasher module to see its electrical schematic. The circuit that ties to the BCM to activate the alternating brake and reverse lights is a ground only circuit. DO NOT apply 12V to this circuit.

Well, the bottom two are pic of the upfitter harness that you need. I have not hooked up anything except the surveillance mode switch from mine so I can't really go beyond that. At least in the passenger compartment you have your starting point now.

Thanks

This means that if I give 12v to the green cable in this connector should turn on the flasher? And if I give the ground on wh / vt turn on surviillance mode? Sorry for my English...., 😀
