4 wires in front of radiator
4 wires in front of radiator
Hey all,
Trying to figure out if I can use, no power there with car running.
They are green, gray, yellow and blue.
Each one has a strip either green or purple. Hoping I can just install fuse.
This is a 2014.
Thanks.

Re: 4 wires in front of radiator
Those are for the power/ground on siren speaker and power ground for the led grille lights. Depending on how the car was setup (if it was a used car) or how it was ordered from the factory, those wires go to a connector behind the passenger side headlamp, then into the car. Either ending at the center console or ending in the trunk. So if everything was removed prior to "retirement" or if its new, they are connected to nothing on the other end.

Re: 4 wires in front of radiator
Thanks man. I see where they are near the passenger side head light Over by the flasher module.
My car never was used for police work had like 12,000 miles on it when I got it.
I will have to trace them out.

Check your Op code sticker on the trunk. Go onto Kerrindustries.com and look for the Caprice, they have EVERYTHING regarding the upfitting for this car.

Re: 4 wires in front of radiator
So the 4 wires on the passenger strut tower go to the police harness plug in the passenger footwell. If you car was never set up for police work then chances are those 4 wires are not connected to anything. They were just offered as a way to get 12 volts or ground to the interior to the underhood area. The agencies using them could use them for what ever they wanted. Usually it was a siren and lights thats why they gave them enough wire to reach the front bumper area.
Here is where the plug terminates in the interior of the car. You may also have an extension harness about 4 foot long plugged in there.
Where is says 2A that is the plug that has the 4 wires in there:
This picture is taken with the glove compartment removed, but you should be able to access the extension harness from under the dash with the glove compartment in place.
EDIT:
Oh sorry I though you already found them on the shock tower. This is the continuation of the harness on the shock tower:
EDIT AGAIN: Oh just realized you have a 14, these pics may or may not apply. LEt us know if you find similar connectors.

Re: 4 wires in front of radiator
I had to go to 2015 for this diagram since the 2014 just seems to repeat the 2011-13 colors:
Similar layout to the 2011-13 just not sure if connector X277 is in the same place. But X277 is the one the extension harness plugs into in the passenger side foot well.

Re: 4 wires in front of radiator
Also in 2015 it shows the end of the police harness may be more toward the center of the dash.
#20 in this diagram is supposed to be X277
#24 is X252
The pin out shows the 4 under hood wires are present in X277 but not in X252
Eventhough the wiring diagram above shows they should be present in both? Not sure what is incorrect???

Re: 4 wires in front of radiator
Oh and here is another difference. The 2011-13 4 wire plug comes out where the red arrow is. The 14 and up seems to come out a little more forward and maybe even in front of the fuse box?? You find that connector? #2 is the forward 4 wire connector.
Re: 4 wires in front of radiator
I found number two. It looks like to goes to the fuse box
Then I found all these I the car under the center console.
