Re: Transmission Cooler
I don't suggest bypassing the in-rad cooler. It helps regulate the trans fluid temps. The sweet spot for transmission fluid on a street driven car is about 180 degrees. External coolers that are not in series with the in-rad cooler can over-cool the fluid, especially in cold climates.

Re: End of the PPV?
I was hoping that GM wouldn't keep repeating the same mistake over and over again and announce that Caprice PPV production was "moving" and not being outright canceled. Announcements were made a few years ago about the Holden shutdown. But I held a very dim hope that Caprice and SS would c...

There were a few dealers that sold them new back in 2011, but they got in trouble I think. That's correct. I bought mine from Criswell in MD as a first-owner title and 0 miles on the clock. They claimed the sales contract with the first shipment of 13 cars in early 2011 didn't include the "pol...

Re: Questions from a discouraged Chevy Dealership visitor
Yes dealers and fleet dealers are NOT to sell PPV/SSV Vehicles, new, to the general public. GM has cracked down on this within the past few years, reason, no idea. CAFE is perhaps the big reason. Government EPA standards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_Average_Fuel_Economy" onclick=&q...

Re: Battery was dead, go to jump and I only have one? questi
Yep, the second battery was an option. Some didn't come with it, but as mentioned above, do have the tray, but no battery terminals or isolation block (all missing from my car). I agree, have the battery load tested. Police use is hard on batteries and they only last about 4 years or less in that en...

Refrigerant could be undercharged or even overcharged.

Re: interesting tech resource - Techlink
Actually, a thick coating of "Disc Brake Quiet" (made by CRC in a red spray can) solves it. When I do a brake job, I apply it to the back plates of all brake pads before assembly. I was just a little miffed that my brand new car at the time (and still fairly new with only 6500 miles at thi...

Aussie or Oz.
Or how about a PPV, which is exactly what it is.
Haven't seen any with 40s, so I'm not sure we will hear it in slang terms like we heard the others............ but maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Programming a new key
Let me jump in on this thread for a moment. My car came with two identical RKE keys from the factory. Are they both considered "master keys" ? And if not, how do I know which one is the master?

Re: T-Shirts
I'd be interested too. Watching this thread. I'd be interested in a more subdued message on it, nothing that screams police, or would offend police, or offend the public considering the sensitive times. To emphasize the 4 inches joke, or to make it easy to explain to others who question it, we could...
