Re: What did you do to your Caprice today?
It wasn't today, but last week picked up a rough set of G8 rims and got Michelin X Ice tires installed on them for winter use. IMG_6971.jpg I've also been making significant improvements in the idle tuning. The idle has been challenging me since the cam went in and custom exhaust went on. Summer tun...

Re: Winter handling/traction
My car came with Ultra Grips on the steelies so that is what went on for winter use. They advertise being for winter use, so I expected reasonable performance. I was not impressed so I left them on for this summer to get a little more use out of them before retiring them. I've now installed the Mich...

Re: Why just fix the leak when you can eliminate the choke points?
pleas put it on a scale before installation. what do you figure? north of 30#s I checked it last week and it weighs in at a hefty 31 lbs. I still haven't weighed the factory parts to see how much things are changing. They are buried deeper in the snow now. What is the end goal here? silencing the n...

Re: Why just fix the leak when you can eliminate the choke points?
pleas put it on a scale before installation. what do you figure? north of 30#s I should be able to check it this afternoon. I would guess it around 30 lbs. I'll also try weighing the factory parts that this replaces to get a comparison. I won't likely get that done today since it is buried in snow....

Re: Why just fix the leak when you can eliminate the choke points?
I cut the insulation for the other end and tacked the outer end plate in place. I guess you can’t really even see the end plates with the insulation bulging out. 19589E01-8B35-4EAA-918B-EAC8A7BFE1CE.jpeg Then I cut a piece of the insulation that would wrap around the entire inner chamber. I laid it ...

Re: Why just fix the leak when you can eliminate the choke points?
I put a bell mouth on the outlet pipes for a smoother transition into them. Then welded them into the inner end plate. The outer end plate is just slipped on in this photo for test fitting. 4FBB5A03-6841-403D-B7F1-F141D1AACC09.jpeg After welding the end plate in, I cut a piece of mineral wool insula...

Re: Why just fix the leak when you can eliminate the choke points?
now get back to work. Yes, sir! Made some progress this morning. I slipped the end plate of the outside shell back on to help verify clearance as I did a test fit. Re: Another broken power window wire thread
I ended up cutting both wires back as far as I could to attempt to get to an area of the harness that would not flex so much. Here is the connector end at the body.
