Re: Trans R&R for converter install

I would unbolt the shift linkage from the transmission and loosen the adjusting bolt to allow the rod to slide out. I have never tried to remove the plastic/rubber bushing at the shifter, but from other post I have seen, the plastic pieces are pricey for a chunk of plastic.

Re: Trans R&R for converter install

Pull the plastic cowl out and it will give you great access to the top bolts. Can’t help you on the header question as all I have are bone stock cars, DOD and all.

Have you hooked up a decent scan tool to check for fault codes?

Re: Tie rod ends

You adjust the toe-in/out by turning the inner socket. The nut needs to turn freely on the threads. May have to use a torch on the nut to free it up. Another way is to back the nut with a 5 lb hammer and give the nut a whack on the other side. The shock may loosen it up. If the car is from the rust ...

Re: Finally ready to say hello!

The V-6 cars are a pretty peppy car. They cruise nicely on the highway. I did a 2013 V-6 swap into a 2013 V-8 car. Was going to give it to my daughter, but I use it instead as my economy car. She wasn’t crazy about driving a Panda and I am too cheap to pay good money to make it all black.

It is a V-6, no V-8 lurking under the hood of this car.

Re: Pontiac G8 That Helped Land U-2 Spy Planes

I poked around GovDeals but did not find anything in completed auctions. I believe I saw somewhere that it sold for around $27,000 with buyers premium.

Re: '12 PPV to "Sport Sedan" build documentary

You can still use HP tuners to turn the DOD off and play around with the tuning a little. The single color cars don’t get too many looks around here as it has been several years since there were any in service in my area. I have a Panda that seems to have some effect on the ones driving 80-85 in 65 ...

Re: Replace v6 cooling system thermostat

Took a look at Rockauto and it looks like the OEM temp on the thermostat is 180 F. The 176 F that you see while running down the road is so close to the thermostat rating it is not worth worrying about. You will see a temp increase when you come to a stop as the cooling fans probably do not turn on ...
