Re: Sounds like a lifter failure...

On the Caprice PPV page it was suggested that I look into the warranty. I thought it was 5yr 60k but apparently in 2013 it was still the 5 yr 100k. The vehicle has just under 99k on it now. I went and spoke to the service advisor at my local shop and he told me to put it back together and bring it t...

Re: Sounds like a lifter failure...

Well, good news and bad news. The lifter came out today... the roller was sitting right there on the needing to be replaced cam. Unknown where the other pieces are. And that's not the worst part. When the lifter failed it totally screwed the lifter bore and knocked a chunk out of it. Anyone have a b...

Re: Sounds like a lifter failure...

Well....fudge. sure enough, the lifter on the intake valve for cyl 3 is ffed. Stuck in the bore. I've got pb blaster soaking on it now and will pick up a slide hammer remover tomorrow at harbor freight.

Re: Sounds like a lifter failure...

no updates as of yet. work shit.... I have my son's birthday tomorrow and parent-teacher conferences on Monday for all three kiddos. Tuesday has been reserved for the removal of the heads to ascertain where the failure is coming from. I will post an update/pics then.

Re: Sounds like a lifter failure...

As I'm only 45min north of TexasSpeed I will be calling them tomorrow to get the DOD delete and new cam. It may wind up being a valve issue, but since I have to take the head off I am going to take opportunity to install some go fast parts.

Re: centex2013- Black 2013 9c1 build

Chasing a possible lifter/valve issue that just friggin developed so no go on the new intake and exhaust today. Boooooo!

Meanwhile, the black hole covers from nenno products arrived today so I yanked the spotlight and trunk antennas. Short of a professional patch job the black blends in well.

Re: Sounds like a lifter failure...

Intake side of #3 has an audible and felt pop when cranking the motor. I put my finger on the rocker arm and it feels like knuckles cracking when the arm comes back up on the valve side. Took the rocker arm off and pulled the rod. No obvious bend. Whacked the valve a couple times with a rubber malle...

Re: Sounds like a lifter failure...

Spark plug on cylinder 3 was a little loose, but the noise continues. Here's a video I just took.
