Re: Soften Up the Ride

All the parts are in and I had just enough time last night to put the car on stands last night. It's time to start taking things apart. Dummy, I got a pair of Whitelines that come with new bearings and a single washer. Whiteline's instructions say to re-use the existing top washer. strut top diagra...

Re: exhaust picks

Being from NY, the flex joints and bolts attaching the mufflers are probably about done. Watch those. The upper seam on the mufflers need watching, too. One of those seams on one muffler on our ‘12 9C1 was already leaking.

Re: exhaust picks

While I don't have a lot of miles on them, I have driven the car just about every way possible, around the neighborhood at ~30, down the highway at 70, and on an autocross course in sport mode, I don't find my exhaust to be much louder than the OEM system it replaced. I can tell when in 4-cyl mode m...

Re: Front lower rear control arm compatibility question

Since the photo is rotated, is the rusty part on "top"? The new part fits VF/WN, the old part fits VE/WM....the new part appear to have a lube fitting--yes? Assuming it is aftermarket, does the OEM version also have a lube fitting, or is it sealed? The taper is different, I'm guessing, because the ...

Re: Caprice PPV headlights

What tabs are broken? Did you polish these, or are those as they came off the car?

Re: P0157 trouble code help?

Ended up replacing the other secondary sensor, just to be safe. Took the kids out for a drive with the ODB reader connected. It looked good, and we didn’t set the MIL off. I’ll drive it a few more times, then get it inspected. Fingers crossed.

Re: Soften Up the Ride

You'll want to at least have the bearings handy, or another ride to the parts house when the old bearings explode across your garage floor when you pull the compressor off. I'd also recommend covering that end of the strut with a garbage bag as you're removing the compressor. Luckily, I was able to ...

Re: P0157 trouble code help?

Well, got that O2 sensor replaced. After running the car a bit, the CEL didn't turn off, and I was apparently not clearing it properly. The position 2 no. 2 sensor was showing about .01-.05 v while driving, I swapped the one I had just pulled off to the other side. It didn't seem to make much differ...

Re: trans and diff fluid change

I think I'd call BS on that diff fluid change, but for $250 for the trans, I think I'd let the dealership do it, too.
