Re: Rear end options for my V6 Caprice

Yes it is possible to have a V6 car with the G80 limited slip differential. The difference is the V6 cars did not automatically come with the G80 as standard equipment but the buyer could option the G80 for extra (minimal cost). The V8 cars all came with the G80 as standard equipment. So if you have...

Re: 6L80E T Stat

Its likely inside the block on top of the air to oil cooler where the lines go in. There is no sensor, its a mechanical t stat like the engine uses. When the fluid reaches a certain temp, the vale opens allowing ATF to flow through the cooler. Sounds like a better design then the K2XX trucks have on...

Re: 6L80E T Stat

That engineering mode only works on 2011-2013 cars right? I'm failing to understand how automatic transmissions have survived all these years in cold climates without a thermostat. Seems just another failure point to me. Are you seeing this on the external cooler mounted up at the very front? On the...

6L80E T Stat

Hey guys its been awhile. Been a few hard years but I'm back and life is good. I wanted to know if any of you guys knew if the 6L80E in our cars has a transmission fluid thermostat like the K2XX trucks do with the same transmission? I don't think the GMT 900 trucks with the 6L80E had them so Im not ...

Re: 3.45 Differential install

Maurice, did you use the a camaro driveshaft coupler? The rubber disc between the driveshaft and the diff yoke. If not did you notice any differences on the caprice coupler mounting to the camaro diff vs the oe caprice diff like someone else on this thread did? Also, did you need to support the lowe...

Re: Transmission

I think all car companies do this. They put the "weaker" trans" in the V6 vehicle to save fuel economy. The V6 has significantly less torque than the V8 so it would be a waste of energy for it to push the beefier (heavier) internals of 6L80E. This is the same concept as my old 1991 C1...

Re: WTB Laptop Mount

Look at www.havis.com, Galls, GT Distributors. Havis makes a heavy duty mount for around 500 dollars or a light duty one for about 200-250. I have the heavy duty model in my government ride. I can send pics you want to see how it looks installed. Its a no drill mount. Used the front passenger seat h...
